Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chief Whip Kabindra Burlaakoti has stated that caution must be exercised regarding the internal discussions and jurisdiction of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee.
Speaking at the committee’s meeting held at Singha Durbar on Friday, he said that special care should be taken when making public the committee’s documents, legal analysis, and internal processes.
Chief Whip Burlaakoti stated that although committee discussions should be transparent, attention must be paid to taking certain technical and internal matters, which precede the decision-making process, outside. He argued that the issue of whether members have studied the documents or not is the responsibility of the members themselves, and such details do not need to be made public through the chairperson.
Speaking about the complaints received by the committee, Burlaakoti clarified that the Hearing Committee does not have the jurisdiction to discuss all types of complaints. While the practice of regularly exercising the right to information and filing complaints cannot be ignored, he suggested that complaints outside the jurisdiction should be sent to the relevant body.
